A regulated variable power supply is an essential component in any electronics workbench. While there are several designs described on the web, I will present a very simple way to build a very clean, almost noise-free supply using a linear regulator and a DC power source.
With plenty of USB-powered devices available today, a portable power source that can deliver the same voltage and current of a standard USB port is always a nice addition to our tool set.
A very useful tool and really easy to build; we will use a common 10mm white LED to create a flashlight that may remain ON for several days with a single charge.
